BIO
Sophia is a Lebanese- Greek filmmaker with over 10 years of experience writing, producing and directing for companies such as the BBC, Disney, HBO and ONE Entertainment. She has helped to create and sell over 400 hours of film, TV, commercials and music videos.

Raised in both the Middle East and Europe, with no one place to call home, Sophia’s experience of growing up between cultures has shaped her work. Her films are often heavily atmospheric horror and thriller based character studies that delve into themes of identity, isolation, social inequity and the darker sides of the female experience.

Most recently, Sophia just delivered her latest short, LEAVING LEBANON, to Disney, which was funded through the studio's Underrepresented Storytellers grant. She is also in development on her first feature, a Greek body horror inspired by the mythology of Medusa.

Sophia has been recognized for her work by some of the leading names in independent film. Her screenplay CHLORINE was a semifinalist at Tribeca, and her AFI thesis film TO THE DUST was submitted as AFI’s selection for a Yugo BAFTA Student Award. Along with her film accolades Sophia has been shortlisted for a slew of grants and mentorships including WIF, Rising Voices, and Disney Launchpad.
